in the 'for those people who care what it looks like' category,
the first Clear compilation: It's All Becoming Clear was voted as your favorite artwork/packaging. the cd contained a clear
jewel case with a circular sticker placed in the center. this was placed inside a chipboard sleeve printed in a deep red ink. this chip sleeve
had a complex die-cut that let the circle sticker show through a hole. the chipboard case closed with an elaborate folding scheme.

although you voted Doctor Rockit your favorite clear artist, most of you would like to hear
Gescom record again. there still aren't many 'new artist' suggestions. this may prove
that it is more difficult to organize/run a label than to listen to enjoy the music! |

 |
| What was your favorite Clear year |
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 1995 solid electro (Jedi Knights, Gescom, Jake Slazenger and others)
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 1996 cheeze, jazz, experimental (The Gregory Fleckner Quintet, Clatterbox and others)
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx 1997 drum and jazz and bass and asymmetry (Metamatics, Reflection and Morgan Geist)
xx 1998 fluid and jazzy, percussive "live instrument" sound (newer artists like The Lithium Project)
many of you think it doesn't get any better than Clear 1995, the first year the label was releasing titles.
the fact that Clear was putting out nearly one 12" title every month probably increased the 1995 favorite votes.
and there were quite a number of 'pseudonym' artists behind these records: Jedi Knights, Tusken Raiders,
Gescom, Plaid, Jake Slazenger, Clatterbox, Doctor Rockit all saw there first release on the Clear label in '95. |
